About
Some of you already know me through French Kit. For those of you who don’t, here’s what’s to know about me.
I’m Samia, a thirty seven year old kiwi who’s lived in Paris most of her life. And just to be clear, as much as i love baguette, smelly cheeses and red wine, my heart belongs to weetbix, spaghetti on toast and ug boots… manner of speech.
I’ve been a pattern maker for over ten years now, and I feel blessed to have been able to make a decent living from a job I’m so passionate about. In 2005 I took up knitting as a hobby and it was a true revelation. After just one or two cardis I started combining passion n°1 with passion n°2, and before I knew it I was quitting my cosy job at Louis Vuitton to take on the life of a struggling self-employed drowned by never-ending expenses and started my own business called French Kit, a strange world where draping, pattern making, sewing and knitting all flirt with eachother.
My main activity is pattern making, both as freelance and temping. This brings me to several fashion houses, it’s as awesome as it is nerve wrecking. And every now and then I do a little consulting work for the IFM. In other words, a true chequered career!
I created this blog so you -and I in fact- can follow my rather unsual work agenda, I hope you enjoy your visit.
