Here are some pics of some of the garments i worked on at Lanvin. They didn’t all parade unfortunately, how they pick the garments for the catwalk i dont know…
The first dress was made about 10 times before it became what it is on the picture. It started out being 5 metres long, then a little shorter, and a little more until when doing the rehearsal for the catwalk Albert decided to chop it all off. Dress n°2 was a real delight to make, there’s a lot going on underneath that grrovy collar. N°3 i didn’t like so much, technically it was really interesting and challenging but i find the result quite disappointing, it was made in another lighter crêpe that looked much better, don’t know why they picked that awful granny grey. N°4 was also quite cool, it has 6 shoulder pads on each side, freaky. But this only works with really thick natural fabrics like here, 100% wool. There was another coat on the same theme but you can tell the seamstress didn’t manage to smooth out all the ease. N°5 was kind of piss easy, the pattern is just one piece, and look how great it looks. N°6, well this one i didn’t actually work on, but i love it so much i just had to put it up, plus it made an even number of pics to put up ;)
On this. In fact this was just the beginning, i was trying to find the right volume for the waist dart.
Then it became this
Then i used the toile as the pattern, cut the whole dress with toile that matched the weight of the final dress as much as possible, sewed it up with my groovy sewing machine, tried it on the client, did the alterations, made the pattern, took it to the seamstress who happens to live in my town, and tomorrow afternoon we’re heading up there with Rime -the designer- and Sylvie -the bride- to do the final fitting before d-day which is… on friday, yes, that’s right, friday.

Oh and of course i couldn’t leave you without yet another you tube video, this time i’d like to share a cool LnP add from NZ. With this wedding dress being so posh and all i thought i’d go all un-posh ;)
Got a baby blanket on the needles, Meg’s top is quietly awaiting my fingers and brain to be finalized, and i’m working on a special order for a wedding dress. But right now I’m really not in the mood for blogging, so until i feel like doing the whole uploading and resizing of photos, do enjoy my selection of you tube videos. I have heaps in stock, so lots of blogging free days ahead, hehe!
Look closely at this video, i love how it’s so poultry friendly!
