Thank you!

September 1st, 2010 — 9:57pm

Thank you so much to all the people who wrote about the decrease on a double brioche stitch, i shall read over all that amazing advice and figure out the best suited way in my case, thank you ;)
Anyway, back to work till October 3rd, it’s been two days and so far it’s pretty cruisy. But one thing’s for sure, it won’t last. Here’s a small hint on where i’m at

mitaines
Ok, now here’s what NOT to do with your lovely precious so pretty i look like ada straight out of the piano mittens: wash them at 40°C with the rest of your stuff!
I suppose it’s a good thing though, a paying customer did mention the pattern was a wee bit stingy with details. What have i been doing lately on the couch late at night after a hard day’s work? I’ve been trying to figure out how to make logical, almost invisible decreases on a double brioche stitch, and well, after a few trials on paper i’m still quite lost -or should i say very-. If anyone out there would like to share some info and make my day, please contact me. And now what will i be doing on the couch late at night after a hard day’s work? Knitting a new pair of mittens! I never tried felting before, now i guess i’ll know what to do when the time comes aye?
But it’s about time i went back to work on monday, i’ve been going Etsy crazy, buying the most divine crochet patterns to make the most gorgeous booties, mary janes, ballet flats… for the cutest goddaughter in the world. My girls are coming to visit in November so i hope to have at least one pair of something for Kiara and one pair of something else for Cath. In reality i would love to have 3 or 4 pairs of something for K, but i know me well now, one is plenty, almost more than i can handle..

Back!

August 20th, 2010 — 11:24am

vacances
The first real holiday i’ve had in years. Just my man, the kids (all disguised as two cats and a dog), a typical secluded Bourguignonne house with an amazing huge garden lent by some dear friends, and to top the lot, lots and lots of that Burgandy sun. Apart from lazing around in the sun, knocking myself out eating all the gooseberries fresh off the tree, eating too much of the local bread and cheese, and -not so local- chocolate, drinking too many alcoholic beverages, reading silly magazines etc etc… i did absolutely nothing. No walks, no sight-seeing apart from the local markets and a pottery fair, no knitting, no nothing.

But all good things have an end and ever since i got back it’s been all work and no play -well maybe a little, it’s still holiday season after all-

I’ve updated the sewing page, if you want to check out what i’m up to right now. The two designers i’m freelancing for at the moment are Maxime Simoens and Dazel.

Holiday

July 10th, 2010 — 10:35pm

I’m off to Burgandy tomorrow, finally a real holiday! In the meantime i leave you with some cool sound.

First the black seeds, i love these guys, i feel really peaceful when i listen to them

Second is a cute video i found on you tube, the song is really nice, what a suave voice.

Third is back to Aotearoa with a mellow song by Catchafire, love it. What can i say, i like reggae.

Fourth is still in the land of the long white cloud, this time with supergroove, simply superb. This is a song my mates and i used to listen to when we were teenagers, and honestly it’s aged really well.

Fifth, still in NZ, this is one of my favourite songs, it reminds me of that last week of the summer break, when you’re nervous about going back to school, cause you just know you’re not the same as when it stopped. The video is very cheesy, but the song, aaah…

Et spéciale dédicace pour Ariane, unfortunately i couldn’t integrate this video into the blog, but if you want to see the most handsome guy in the world (after Quentin of course), check this out.

And last of all, let’s all get together and hope that this never -ever- happens to us or someone we love. Notice how the poor thing asks if it’s going to take long. I know, it’s gross, sorry.

Anyway, i’ll be bringing some knitting along with me, after all it is my passion ;)
HAPPY HOLIDAY!!

Not completely unrelated to knitting

July 7th, 2010 — 10:48am

This is a knitter i came across while surfing on Ravelry. Turns out that besides being a pretty groovy knitter she’s also a pretty cool singer. This is her first video clip, it’s so cute. And the song… simply delightful. Here is where you can find her ravelry page. And here is where you can visit her knitting blog.

Some of the stuff i did at Lanvin

June 30th, 2010 — 2:01pm

Here are some pics of some of the garments i worked on at Lanvin. They didn’t all parade unfortunately, how they pick the garments for the catwalk i dont know…

The first dress was made about 10 times before it became what it is on the picture. It started out being 5 metres long, then a little shorter, and a little more until when doing the rehearsal for the catwalk Albert decided to chop it all off. Dress n°2 was a real delight to make, there’s a lot going on underneath that grrovy collar. N°3 i didn’t like so much, technically it was really interesting and challenging but i find the result quite disappointing, it was made in another lighter crêpe that looked much better, don’t know why they picked that awful granny grey. N°4 was also quite cool, it has 6 shoulder pads on each side, freaky. But this only works with really thick natural fabrics like here, 100% wool. There was another coat on the same theme but you can tell the seamstress didn’t manage to smooth out all the ease. N°5 was kind of piss easy, the pattern is just one piece, and look how great it looks. N°6, well this one i didn’t actually work on, but i love it so much i just had to put it up, plus it made an even number of pics to put up ;)

Besides surfing on You tube i AM working

June 29th, 2010 — 9:51pm

On this. In fact this was just the beginning, i was trying to find the right volume for the waist dart.
toile 1
Then it became this
front-wd-toile1
Then i used the toile as the pattern, cut the whole dress with toile that matched the weight of the final dress as much as possible, sewed it up with my groovy sewing machine, tried it on the client, did the alterations, made the pattern, took it to the seamstress who happens to live in my town, and tomorrow afternoon we’re heading up there with Rime -the designer- and Sylvie -the bride- to do the final fitting before d-day which is… on friday, yes, that’s right, friday.
To see the pics of the fitting click here.

Oh and of course i couldn’t leave you without yet another you tube video, this time i’d like to share a cool LnP add from NZ. With this wedding dress being so posh and all i thought i’d go all un-posh ;)

videos: 1point – blogging: 0

June 17th, 2010 — 5:27pm

Got a baby blanket on the needles, Meg’s top is quietly awaiting my fingers and brain to be finalized, and i’m working on a special order for a wedding dress. But right now I’m really not in the mood for blogging, so until i feel like doing the whole uploading and resizing of photos, do enjoy my selection of you tube videos. I have heaps in stock, so lots of blogging free days ahead, hehe!
Look closely at this video, i love how it’s so poultry friendly!
